LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville man is facing theft charges after police said he accepting payment for work he did not perform.
According to a warrant of arrest, 55-year-old Charles V. Judd accepted a check from the City of Shively for concrete work he never started. Police said the check for $6,940. was supposed to be used to buy materials for concrete work on city property and payment for labor associated with the work.
Judd cashed the check at a local U.S. Bank and that's when city personnel launched an investigation, police said. After checking city records and the estimate provided to the city by Judd, investigators tried to contact Judd several times by phone, mail and in person. When they received no response a warrant was issued.
Judd was arrested Thursday and charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of property.
