LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police said 26-year-old Justin Parker left a small female dog at a rental property, in the 2200 block of West Chestnut Street, where it was found dead sometime later.
A witness entered the property after Parker and another co-defendant had moved out, sometime prior to Jan. 10, and found the dog deceased inside a hallway of the property, according to the police report.
Police said dog feces were found in the hallway and a closed bag of dog food was found in the home. According to the police report there was no water left for the dog and there was no heat on at the property even though it was cold.
Police said LMAS was called by the witness and mail matter inside the home was found with Parker’s name and the co-defendant’s name. The UK Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory conducted a necropsy and the dog was found to have died of severe frostbite, according to police.
Parker is charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of property and cruelty to animals in the second degree.
