Inmate back in custody after he walks away from Metro Corrections

Donnie Haycraft was jailed on charges of Hindering Prosecution 2nd degree and bench warrants for Possession of Marijuana and Receiving Stolen Property. He is now facing additional charges of Escape in the First Degree.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Metro Corrections inmate is back behind bars after he escaped custody Thursday morning.

According to a news release, Donnie Haycraft, a minimum custody inmate trustee, walked away form Metro Corrections after emptying a trash container around 6:20 a.m. Police said they found Haycraft's orange jump suit discarded between Liberty and 8th streets.

Haycraft was apprehended around 11:30 a.m. after police said they received information that he was at a residence on Cofer Street.

Haycraft was jailed on charges of Hindering Prosecution 2nd degree and bench warrants for Possession of Marijuana and Receiving Stolen Property. He is now facing additional charges of Escape in the First Degree.
