LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A text message has a Louisville man in trouble with the law.

According to an arrest report, 29-year-old Robert Butler was arrested over the weekend and it all started because of a text message.

The report states Butler's pregnant girlfriend was going through his phone when she allegedly saw a text from another female.  The girlfriend told investigators she became "very emotional" and went to the kitchen to get a drink of water. Instead of drinking the water, police said, she took the glass into the room where Butler was sleeping and threw the water on him.

After dumping water on Butler, police said he woke up and grabbed his girlfriend by the hair, threw her to the ground and began striking her with "a closed fist causing her pain." Police said the girlfriend told investigators Butler began choking her when she tried to get up.

Butler is charged with assault and wanton endangerment.
