LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- 34-year-old Carlos Lagantta is behind bars again. Early Monday morning police say Lagantta and another man barged into Northwestern Parkway residence. One person was inside; they forced a nearby female neighbor in as well.

A fight broke out, both victims were shot, and so was Lagantta. Lagantta called 911 to report he had been shot, and then he was arrested at University Hospital. But this isn't the first encounter Lagantta has had with police; he spent three years in prison but was later cleared of the murder charges due to DNA evidence. This is our exclusive interview with him last year, as he was about to be set free.

"What are you doing here at the Hall of Justice today?” said Gene Kang.

“I’m turning in my HIP equipment and being a free man. Once I turn this in I'm all the way free,” said Lagantta.

As of Tuesday, Oct. 1, though – he’s back in jail charged with robbery, burglary, and assault.  This morning he was arraigned on the new charges. So far we don't know what Lagantta has to say about this latest case; we have calls into the jail to speak with him. Police tell us they're still looking for the second suspect in Monday's home invasion. Lagantta’s next day in court is Oct. 11.
