LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville man has been arrested after accusations he forcibly assaulted two young women near the Ohio River.
According to a police report, officers responded to a call of a fight but when they arrived at the scene witnesses described a different scenario. Apparently, several people were holding down 34-year-old Raymond Mantle in what appeared to be a fight. Witnesses told police that Mantle was being held because of crimes he had committed earlier that night.
Mantle's alleged victims were still at the scene and told police Mantle had hit one victim twice in the face with closed fists and was forcing her to say, "those who bless Israel get blessed." Police said Mantle slammed another victim's head into a stone wall and then got on top of her. Once on top of the victim police said Mantle grabbed here breasts and crotch.
The two victims, both minors, were able to run away and were screaming, "help me," as they did. police said a woman saw the two girls running and punched Mantle in the face, causing her to injure her hand.
Citizens in the area then took it upon themselves to hold down Mantle and keep him from escaping. Officers took control of the situation after they arrived.
Mantle is facing a bevy of charges, including three counts of wanton endangerment and assault. He is also facing 1st degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct.
