LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police arrested 23-year-old Matthew Hobbs after police said he had locked himself in a McDonald’s restroom stall, located in the 2720 block of West Broadway, and was injecting himself with heroin.

The officer entered the restroom and saw Hobbs injecting heroin into his arm, police said.

The officer identified himself as a police officer and ordered the subject to drop the narcotics and unlock the stall door, according to police.

Police said Hobbs then tried to destroy the evidence by flushing a syringe, baggie of suspected heroin and metal spoon down a toilet.

Hobbs admitted to an officer that he was injecting heroin and destroyed evidence to keep from being arrested, according to the police report.

Hobbs is charged with tampering with physical evidence.
