LOUISVILLE, Ky. –Police said a man that was once behind bars for murder was arrested again on Thursday after he pulled a gun on his own mother.
According to a police report, James Doss, 26, allegedly grabbed his mother by the throat, threw her on a couch, shoved a gun to her temple, and threatened to “blow her brains out.”
Doss’ mother told police she was terrified of her son and said he, “just beat a murder case.”
Doss was arrested in March 2011 for the murder of 48-year-old Gary Haynes, who was shot and killed in an alley off Larkwood Avenue and 40th Street.
Haynes’ father said his son was a humble man and he “always had a smile on his face.”
He said Doss was a complete stranger.
“The people of today, in his age group, they don’t care about life,” he said. “If he did care about it, he wouldn’t have ruined two lives. The lives of his family and our family. It doesn’t matter to him.”
Doss spent more than a year in jail for Gary Haynes’ murder before the case was dismissed without prejudice in March 2012. His criminal record dates back to 2006 and is littered with drug and alcohol charges. Doss is now also facing charges of wanton endangerment, assault, and terroristic threatening. His mother suffered minor bruising to her temple and chest.
