LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville man was arrested after police said he drove through numerous barriers, lights and other obstacles in a construction zone of I-65 at the I-64 split.
An off-duty officer observing traffic conditions around 12:30 Wednesday morning was notified by a construction supervisor that Dirk Tackett had driven recklessly through that work zone before being stopped at Jefferson and Brook streets in downtown. Police said he nearly hit two construction workers before exiting the highway.
The officer said he noticed a small white vile containing a white powder. Police said he showed signs of being under the influence of a drug.
Dirk Tackett is charged with possessing a controlled substance, wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and failure to have proof of insurance.
