LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)--  A local man was arrested on charges of meth  and burglary after police find him in the backyard of a residence.

Alexander Beckett, 18, was arrested after police arrived at 419 Gwendolyn Street on the call of a break-in in progress.

Police said they found Beckett in the gated backyard of the residence.

Police said Beckett told them he had been evicted from the location and was getting his belongings that were left outside. He also told police that he had two traffic warrants.

Police searched Beckett and area and found a small clean baggy that allegedly is crystal methamphetamine in Beckett’s right coin packet.

Police had a K-9 officer respond and walk around the suspect’s vehicle that was parked in front of the residence. The arrest report stated that the K-9 officer indicated on the vehicle.

Police said they searched the vehicle and found grates that cover the vents from the house in the trunk.

Police also found that the back door of the residence was kicked-in.

Beckett is charged with possession of a controlled substance first and burglary second.
