LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville man is facing a theft charge after police said he tried to steal three cases of beer.

Thirty-four-year-old  Kenny Linton was arrested at the Kroger on New Cut Road Wednesday afternoon. According to the arrest report, a Kroger loss prevention officer watched Linton push a cart loaded with beer out of the store.

Police were called and when officers approached Linton they said he "appeared intoxicated and admitted to the theft because he is an alcoholic."
