LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kosair Children's Hospital employees called the Louisville Metro Police Department concerning a 13-year-old with possible serious injuries to his body.
According to a police report, LMPD officers arrived at Kosair and questioned the boy who had "visible red marks to the right side of his neck, whelps on his right ear, back of the head, chest, upper and lower back and right arm."
He reportedly told police he was struck with a broom by his aunt and that she also tried to strangle.
Police then arrested Angela Thornton of Louisville and she admitted to hitting the boy more than once and she apologized for what she had done.
Thornton was charged with first degree criminal abuse and first degree wanton endangerment.
