KSP arrests Florida man for cargo theft

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Florida man has been arrested in Kentucky for allegedly stealing a semi full of computers.

According to the police report, on Tuesday, March 11, Kentucky State Police was alerted to a cargo theft in Indiana.

A truck and trailer carrying Hewlett Packard computer equipment was taken from a Pilot truck stop.

Several agencies, including the FBI, attempted to locate the semi believed to be headed to Kentucky.

KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement units found the vehicle and suspect when it bypassed the scales on I-75 South.

Officials arrested Eduardo Hernandez, 50, of Hialeah Florida at 1 a.m. on March 12.

Hernandez was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property (over $10,000) and one count of running a scale installation.

Officials reported the stolen cargo, valued at around $2 million, was recovered as well as the stolen tractor and trailer.

The investigation is continuing.
