STEPHENSBURG, Ky. – A Hodgenville man was arrested after police said he stole a tractor from a residence in Larue County.

Police said they received a call Tuesday afternoon about an unknown man running on U.S. 62 in Stephensburg. The caller said that man was chasing him. Troopers were dispatched to that area, but were unable to locate the man.

Twenty minutes later, police said a resident on Morrison Lane called the KSP and reported her tractor had been stolen by a suspect that matched the description of that previous call.

Upon arrival to the home, police saw Barry Martin, 22, on the tractor traveling through a field between Ky. 1375 and Ky. 222.  Police said Martin got off the tractor and attempted to hide from police in a grain bin.

Shortly thereafter, police arrested Martin, who they said was drunk.

Martin was also served with outstanding warrants from Barren, Metcalfe, and Larue counties.  Police said they later determined Martin had also stolen another vehicle earlier in the day from Flaherty, Ky.  It was recovered in the area.

Barry Martin was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Operating a Motor. Vehicle Under the Influence of drugs or alcohol, Criminal Trespass, Burglary, Theft of Farm Equip $10,000, Criminal Mischief,  Fleeing Or Evading Police, Resisting Arrest, Receiving Stolen Property Over $500 and Theft Of Identity.
