(WHAS11) -- A convicted rapist who escaped from custody by overpowering a county jail guard has been captured.

Officials say Robert Waddel escaped after allegedly threatening a jailer with a sharp object and demanding the jailer take him away.  Waddel took off in a detention center van and released the jailer, unharmed, about 10 miles away from the hospital.

Waddel was being transported back to the Breckinridge County Detention Center from Breckinridge Memorial Hospital where he was taken after complaining of chest pains.  He was found Saturday in the North Fork community.

Waddel, a registered sex offender previously convicted of raping two young teens, was being held on charges of rape, assault and burglary.

The Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office is still on the hunt for another inmate.

According to WXBC radio, David Dowell walked away from a recycling program Friday afternoon. He's been charged with a DUI.
