INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indianapolis police have released the name of a man fatally shot by officers after he allegedly opened fire and wounded four SWAT officers serving a warrant.
Police identified the suspect killed Wednesday night as 27-year-old Andrew Sizemore of Indianapolis. Sizemore was fatally shot as officers served a search warrant at a house where police say an undetermined amount of illegal drugs and other evidence was found.
Police say Sizemore opened fired as officers entered the house, wounded four officers who suffered non-life-threatening wounds.
One officer was treated at the scene and a second was treated and released from a local hospital. The two others were expected to remain hospitalized overnight for observation.
Chief Rick Hite said in a statement the shootings are a "reminder of the everyday dangers" police face.
