LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - - An Indiana police officer is recovering from gunshot wounds. Investigators say he was ambushed.

It happened in Hancock County as the officer was chasing a suspect after an attempted traffic stop.
The man reportedly fired at the officer hitting him in the arm, hand and forehead.

Police tracked down the suspect and say he fired again. That's when officers returned fire and killed him.

Another officer was shot in that exchange and is expected to be ok.

This is Indiana's second officer involved shooting in three days.
