Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - An Indiana grandmother has been charged with interfering with child custody after allegedly taking her three grandchildren to Florida to avoid losing custody.

The Department of Child Services reported it removed three other children from the N. Vernon home of Lisa McIntosh, 48, and was waiting for an emergency custody order on the other three before removing the younger children.

That’s when investigators said McIntosh took the children, aged 6 years, 17 months and 5 months, and left the state.

According to police reports, McIntosh was later located in Dade City, Florida. An arrest warrant was issued for McIntosh, and she was arrested on June 28. McIntosh is being held in Florida as officers arrange to transport her back to Indiana.

The three children were taken into protective custody and are currently making arrangements for their return to Indiana.
