VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- An Evansville woman is facing charges after accusations she embezzled money from her employer.
Indiana State Police arrested 48-year-old Tracey Gubbins Tuesday after an investigation revealed she allegedly embezzled more than $40,000 from a woman that hired her back in 2007 to handle her personal finances.
According to a news release, Gubbins was responsible for paying the mortgage, car payments, credit card, taxes and other household bills. The woman contacted police in 2012 after discovering her bank account was wiped out.
The investigation revealed Gubbins allegedly made tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases for her personal use.
Gubbins is charged with theft and is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail.
