Escaped inmate caught after police pursuit

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - An inmate, 37-year-old Fabian Valentine, has been captured after overpowering a guard and driving off in a stolen car on May 23.

Valentine escaped from a correctional transport officer at a rest area in Clark County. He allegedly stole a white 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe from the rest area and drove westbound down I64. Police followed the suspect.

According to police, after a short pursuit through Franklin and Shelby Counties, officers were able to stop the vehicle after Valentine rammed into a cruiser. Valentine was arrested without incident.

Police said Valentine was being taken from Louisville to a correctional facility in Eastern Kentucky.
