LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A homeless man charged with the murder of a man at Dosker Manor appeared before a judge Friday.

James Seay is charged with murder, robbery and tampering with evidence.

Police say Seay beat and stabbed 61-year-old Orville Avis inside his apartment on Muhammad Ali Boulevard last week. Officers later arrested him off Bardstown Road and police say his clothes were covered in blood.

Seay was convicted of murder twice before in 1981 and in 1997 and was released in 2011.

He remains in jail on a $100,000 bond and will be back in court next month.
