BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11)—The Bullitt Co. Drug Task force held a news conference on Thursday night after executing a search warrant on at Gilberts Pay Lake.
Police said the search warrant came after a long term investigation into the Pay Lake and the owner, Benjamin Bennett, 58.
According to the press release, the owner of the pay lake is responsible for the distribution of thousands of pills in Bullitt and Jefferson Counties.
Detectives also seized numerous stolen items valued between $10,000 and $20,000 at this time. These items include flat screen TVs, guns, fishing rods and even candy.
Police said the multi-state criminal syndication was based at the pay lake, just a front for the stolen goods.
Multiple agencies were involved in the investigation and had undercover detectives go to the pay lake to purchase stolen items and narcotics.
Police said Bennett would pay less than wholesale prices for items stolen from department stores in several states and then resale them at the pay lake.
Bennett is charged with organized crime, trafficking in controlled substances and in stolen goods.
