LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Former University of Louisville Cardinal Chane Behanan is in trouble with the law.

Behanan, who was dismissed from the basketball team earlier in the season, was stopped by police Wednesday morning at 1:15 a.m. at 17th and Broadway, according to Alicia Smiley, an LMPD spokeswoman said.

Behanan was the passenger of the vehicle and was cited with possession of marijuana.

After being dismissed he went down to Houston to work with former NBA player John Lucas, who runs a drug and alcohol treatment program for athletes and coaches.

Back in late January Behanan announced he was transferring to Colorado St. to finish out his college career, having enrolled and started online courses. He would have just over a semester left of NCAA eligibility after sitting out for the mandatory year when transferring, per NCAA rules.
