BARDKSTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Bardstown man indicted in May on 10 counts of animal cruelty has been arrested.

John Lewis was taken into custody on Thursday, June 6, and booked into the Nelson County jail.

Back in April police say they discovered several pit bulls attacking each other in his backyard.

Officers say he had nine pit bulls in his yard. One had apparently gotten loose and was attacking the other dogs that were chained up. One pit bull died from his injuries and another had to be euthanized.
