SPENCER, Ind.—A southern Indiana attorney is sentenced after he told police someone shot him while he was jogging at a state park.

Peter Racentos, 44, admitted that he made up the whole story and had actually shot himself in the backside.

Racentos pleaded guilty to misdemeanor False Informing and was sentenced to one day in jail and was ordered to one year probation. Racentos is also banned from all state parks and wildlife areas.

Investigators say that he used bungee cords and fishing lines to rig a shotgun to shoot himself, just three days before he was scheduled to appear in court because he was behind in his child support payments.
