3 people accused of stealing items from impounded vehicles

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police arrested two men, 29-year-old Larry Sharpe and 18-year-old Lamar Becton-Kerr, and  a juvenile after police say they broke into vehicles at an impound lot.

Police were called to the 1480 block of Frankfort Avenue in Louisville, Ky. at around 2:40 a.m. on Nov. 16.

Police said the men stole items from at least 15 vehicles and are valued at more than $1,000. According to police they stole items like: car stereos, sound systems, cellphones and loose change.

According to the police report all three ran after seeing the marked police vehicle. Police said they caught two men, at the impound lot, and the third got away.

The third man, Larry Sharpe, was arrested at 6:41 a.m. on Nov. 16 on Hancock Street in Louisville.

Police said the juvenile told them he had smoked or received marijuana from Sharpe five times in the past two weeks.

Sharpe is charged with unlawful transaction with a minor, fleeing police, criminal trespassing and theft by unlawful taking.

Beckton-Kerr is charged with theft by unlawful taking and fleeing police.
