ESTACADA, Ore. – A man in Estacada, Ore. used his 7-month-old son as a human shield during a standoff with police, authorities said.

Police said they were trying to arrest Raleigh Reynolds in connection with a burglary when they saw him run from his house, jump a fence and hide at his sister’s house next door, said Nate Thompson with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

When Reynolds finally came outside, police said he tried to used his infant son as a shield between his self and officers.

Reynolds eventually surrendered. The baby was not hurt.

Reynolds was booked in the Clackamas County Jail on charges of burglary, endangering welfare of a minor and resisting arrest.

Reynolds was also arrested in February for felony drug charges after he inadvertently dialed 911 just before a drug deal.
