SALEM, Ore. -- An off-duty Salem police officer is in critical condition after his wife ran him over in a pickup truck, police said.
Shirley Teresa Nunez, 47, reportedly entered another woman's home just after 1 a.m. Monday and threatened her with a handgun, according to Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.
Nunez suspected the woman was involved in a relationship with her husband, Kenneth Nunez, Hastings said. The other woman was not injured.
Hastings said within minutes after that incident Kenneth Nunez was struck outside his home by a pickup truck his wife was driving. He was taken to Salem Hospital, where he was last reported in critical condition.
Shirley Nunez was jailed on charges including attempted murder, burglary and menacing.
Kenneth Nunez is a 7-year veteran of the Salem Police Department.
