MARENGO, Ind. (WHAS11)-- Just before 10 p.m. Wednesday Indiana State Police said they arrested Elbert Edward Brooks, 48, and will charge with murder after a triple shooting in Paoli Monday.
Police were led to an apartment complex on S. Main Street in Marengo where they said Brooks was taken into custody without incident.
Brooks is the first suspect to be arrested in connection with the triple shooting in Paoli that left two men dead and another injured. Nicholas Fields died at the scene and Corey Harris was transported to University Hospital where he was kept on life support until his organs were donated. Daniel Smitson suffered a gunshot wound to the face and is recovering at the hospital.
ISP is still looking for 37-year-old John Robert Carpenter and said they believe there is a third suspect involved in the case, James L. Davidson, 36 of Marengo.
Police said Davidson was last seen in the Marengo area Wednesday evening and they believe Carpenter may be in the Crawford County area. Both are considered armed and dangerous, and should not be approached.
