WWE's Rich Swann arrested on battery, false imprisonment charges in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Professional wrestler Rich Swann was arrested late Saturday following a fight with his wife, who also is a wrestler, according to a police report.

The 26-year-old Swann, considered a star competitor in the WWE's cruiserweight division, is charged with battery and false imprisonment.

Swann was driving with the woman when he began to criticize her wrestling performance at a show in downtown Gainesville, the report reads. She worried that the argument was going to escalate and got out of the car in the middle of traffic.

Police say Swann yelled at her, telling her to get back in the car. She declined and continued walking. Swann then grabbed her, placing her in a headlock, and dragged her back to the car, according to the report.

A witness told police they saw the woman beating on the window and screaming for help as they drove away.

The woman told police she was afraid of Swann because "he has a temper sometimes."

The couple is recently married; they wed nine months ago and have been in a relationship for about 5 years, according to the report.
