Police search for escaped Barren County inmate

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating an inmate that walked away from work release in Barren County, Kentucky Tuesday.

Police say they were notified that Amber Franks ran away from work detail while in custody of the Barren County Jail  in Glasgow around 7:15 a.m.

Officers searched the area but had no luck finding Franks.

Police believe Franks may have been picked up by known associate Jeffrey Mitchell, also known as Jeffrey Franks. They believe the pair may be headed toward Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Amber Franks is described as a white female, 5-feet-four-inches tall, with Strawberry Blonde hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing an orange inmate shirt, gray scrub pants and pink tennis shoes.

Mitchell is described as a white male, shoulder-length hair and a sleeve tattoo on one of his arms.

If you’ve seen either Franks or Mitchell, you are asked to call authorities.

Glasgow, Kentucky is about 96 miles south of Louisville.
