Suspect in violent home invasion arrested

BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Bullitt County Sheriff's Deputies received a report of a home invasion in the 5100 block of Lower Beech Grove Road Sunday.

According to police, three people approached the home and identified themselves as Louisville Metro Police Officers. The suspects were armed and wearing bullet-proof vests and proceeded to handcuff the victims and lock them in a room in the home before ransacking the home and stealing numerous items.

The suspects then loaded the victim's ATV and other items onto a trailer and stole the victim’s pickup truck and fled.

Deputies were able to locate the vehicles on Preston Highway in Lebanon Junction as the suspects fled. At the 109 mile marker on I-65 northbound the suspect rammed a marked sheriff’s car then crashed into the cable barrier. The sheriff’s vehicle was then struck by a semi.

The suspect exited the vehicle still wearing body armor and attempted to flee but was taken into custody by deputies on scene. The second suspect vehicle involved left the scene and detectives are following leads on those suspects.

The captured suspect was transported to University Hospital with injuries associated with a collision. The deputy had only minor injuries.
