Man accused of disciplining, bruising child with belt

RADCLIFF, Ky. (AP) - A Radcliff man has been arrested after being accused of disciplining a child with a belt and leaving bruises.

The News-Enterprise reports 37-year-old Christopher Nichols was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child younger than 12.

An arrest warrant shows Nichols admitted to a Child Protective Services case worker that he used the belt to discipline a female child in his custody in April.

Documents say the child sustained bruises on her buttocks as a result.

If convicted, Nichols faces five to 10 years in prison. It isn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
