LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A man is expected to appear in a Jefferson County courtroom Monday after police say he assaulted a man following a car accident.
According to Police, 18-year-old Triston Drake was involved in a March 4 car accident and fled the scene.
The victim he hit, Kevin Dicken, decided to follow Drake for a mile and a half. When Drake stopped, he assaulted Dicken and fled again.
After a witness positively identified Drake, police learned Drake already had an active bench warrant for a September 2016 assault.
According to that report, Drake was at a friend’s house on Sep. 5 when he put a gun to her side and shot her, the bullet going completely through her body.
She says Drake told her to lie and tell police she was robbed and shot by someone else.
The victim was taken to the hospital where she was in a medically-induced coma for a week. She then told police Drake was the one who shot her.
Drake is charged with leaving the scene of an accident - failure to render aid, assault and operating a moped without a license.
Drake was taken into custody Friday and is currently held at Metro Corrections on a $125,000 cash bond.
