Robbery suspect faces charges after Family Dollar shooting

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- LMPD is investigating a shooting involving one of its own officers.

Shots were fired outside the Family Dollar on Broadway and 13th streets Wednesday night. Police say an LMPD officer shot a robbery suspect who appeared to be armed.

Louisville Metro Police are still investigating the robbery and what lead to an officer firing his weapon. The suspect was hit in the thigh.

He was treated at University of Louisville hospital and is now at Metro Corrections facing charges of robbery and wanton endangerment.

Police were called to the Family Dollar around 8:45 Wednesday night in reference to an armed robbery. Police say several shots were fired in the store, but no employees or customers were hurt.
Police made a perimeter around the business. As they were doing that, the suspect, Dominique Hardiman could be seen on police body camera running from the back of the business. That's when LMPD Officer Michael Roberson shot Hardiman.

Police did recover a handgun.

Officer Roberson has been placed on administrative reassignment.

LMPD posted the body camera video to YouTube.
