Coroner's office IDs woman shot, killed on S. Clay St.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- The coroner’s office has identified a woman who was shot and killed in the 300 block of South Clay Street at the Liberty Green Apartments on Monday at 6 p.m.

Nineteen-year-old Mariah N. Wilson died from a single gunshot wound, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating. Neighbors told WHAS11 they believe it may have been some sort of home invasion.
Shekinah Armstrong lives below Wilson's apartment and was home at the time of the shooting.  She remembers what she heard upstairs moments before the gunshots.

“It sounded like, maybe furniture, just furniture being moved or something being dropped, maybe it could've been like a scuffle but I don't know it wasn't anything unusual,” she explained.

Police have not revealed details of what led up to the shooting.
