Chris Jones, 2 others accused of rape, sodomy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two men have been charged along with former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Jalen D. Tilford and 19-year-old Tyvon J. Walker are accused of forcing one of two victims to engage in oral and vaginal intercourse. Jones is accused of forcing both victims.

The Courier-Journal reported a warrant was issued for Jones Wednesday after police said one of the victims was able to identify Jones as one of the assailants and identified Tilford and Walker through social media.

The warrant states the alleged sexual assaults took place Feb. 22 just days after a report from University of Louisville police on Feb. 17 alleged Jones threatened to smack his on again-off again girlfriend via text for "messing up" his apartment.

According to the document Jones threatened to hit a girl through text.

Tilford was booked into Metro Corrections Wednesday and Walker on Thursday. Jones turned himself in Thursday morning.

All three men appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.

Jones' attorneys said he is innocent and has university security footage to prove it. A judge granted him house arrest, after his team argued he's been cooperating with police, is not a flight risk and has no prior criminal history.

Jones was cuffed and taken to Metro Corrections for processing before being released on house arrest.

Tilford is being held at Metro Corrections on a $100,000 cash bond. Walker is being held on a $75,000 cash bond.

Jones is facing two counts of first degree rape and two counts of first degree sodomy. Tilford is charged with one count of first degree rape and one count of first degree sodomy. Walker is charged with one count of first degree rape.

Head coach Rick Pitino says Jones is not coming back.

Jones was dismissed from the UofL basketball team Sunday in the wake of the Feb. 17 incident.
