LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Crushed cones and barriers lined Greenwood Road early Thursday morning in South Louisville after a car crashed into a road construction site and then a vacant building.
Louisville Metro Police officers responded to the crash near Terry Road. They said they believe the driver, Grimay Hagos, was drunk.
Despite smashing his car into the construction zone and a brick building, Hagos wasn't injured.
Fortunately, there were no workers out at the site during the time of the crash.
Lauren Hawkins was working across the street at McDonalds when she heard the collision and called for help.
"I was on my phone with my fiancé and the next thing you know I heard this big huge crash and I hung up with him immediately and I called 911 and it scared the crap out of me and then I seen him get out of the car and start walking around,” Hawkins said.
Hagos was arrested at the scene.
He's charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and criminal mischief.
