LOUISVILLE, Ky., (WHAS11) -- An arrest has been made in connection to Shively's fourth homicide of 2016.
Dion Cummings was arrested early Saturday morning. Cummings, 23, has been charged with facilitation of murder and first degree facilitation of a robbery.
Cummings and another individual planned to take heroin from the victim, according to an arrest warrant. During the incident there was a struggle that left Joseph Key dead.
After family requested a welfare check, police had to break through a window to Key's apartment in the 1800 block of Appleton Lane on Sunday, August 21. They found Key shot to death inside.
Friends and family remember Key as a kindhearted person always putting a smile on their face. Nayatta Elliott, the victim's cousin told WHAS11, “He loved his kids. That was his world. That’s all he had. He didn’t mess with nobody. I mean everybody loves Joe. If you didn’t know him, he would walk up to you and make you laugh. You would love Joe.”
Cummings is currently detained at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $250,000 bond. According to online court records, Cummings is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
