(WHAS11) -- Whole Foods is recalling the Frescolina brand ricotta salata produced by Forever Cheese due to a deadly outbreak of listeria.

The cheese was sold between June 20 and August 9.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said three deaths and 14 hospitalizations in 11 states have been linked to the tainted product.

Symptoms of listeria infection may include fever, muscle aches, nausea or diarrhea.
