Unilever wants to rid products of microbeads by 2015

(WHAS11) -- Those microbeads in exfoliating soaps are great at getting your skin clean but it turns out they're bad for the environment.

That's why one major company wants to stop using them. Unilever, the company that makes Dove soaps, Vaseline, Pond's skin cream and other personal care products, wants to remove microbeads from its products by 2015.

The tiny beads are made of plastic. They can go down the drain and end up in the ocean where they can be swallowed by marine life.
