(WHAS11) -- Toyota is recalling more than 2.5 million Prius vehicles worldwide for a water pump and steering shaft problems.
Toyota says the second-generation models could be damaged, and neglect to switch into hybrid mode if they aren't fixed.
Of the recalled vehicles, 670,000 were sold in the U.S.
Toyota will notify the affected owners by mail starting December.
