(WHAS11) -- Japanese car-maker Subaru is recalling nearly 50,000 vehicles that are being called "zombie cars" because they can start themselves without human intervention.
The recall affects the Legacy, Outback and Impreza models from 2010 through 2013. The recall also includes the 2013 Crosstrek.
Subaru says the problem seems to be with the remote engine starter. If the key chain fob is dropped it could malfunction and start the engine.
The car could keep running until it runs out of gas or the key fob battery dies.
