Cooking that big Thanksgiving dinner may not cost you as much as you might think.
The American Farm Bureau Federation sent hundreds of volunteer shoppers to grocery stores nationwide who found that the average cost to feed 10 people a traditional Thanksgiving dinner is $43.
That's $2 less than last year.
Turkey and milk offered the biggest savings, and if the $43 price tag is still a little steep there are ways to cut costs even more.
Jim Sartwell of the American Farm Bureau Federation suggests you, "go for the less highly processed items. Buy the 5 pound bag of potatoes instead of buying the instant or the precooked items that are there."
One thing you won't save money on is pumpkin pie.
The Farm Bureau Federation says ingredients for that cost more than last year.
