The kids are out of school and looking for something to do and there are plenty of choices that cost 10-dollars or less. How about a cheap summer camp or summer clinics for free, all in Louisville. Renee Murphy did the research and found some great tips. When it’s this hot, sometimes the best place to be is on the water. And your kids can catch a breeze on a boat for free. “We’re gonna be offering a free learn to sail clinic June 14 th and it’s gonna be held right here in Cox’s Park,” says Roger Kennedy of River Cities Community Sailing. Kids will learn how to put a sailboat together on land, and then head out on the Ohio. “This is a way to introduce kids into sailing and to give some kids who maybe never been out on the Ohio River an opportunity to see what it’s all about,” says Kennedy. This is just the beginning of what your kids can do this summer without you spending a dime. If the water is your thing, don’t forget about the water park for kids along the river near Tumbleweed. Its open daily and its free. And so is the library. There are lists of free events at the branch closest to you. And here is something else to consider that’s not free but close. “I believe we got the cheapest camp around this year its just 10-dollars per week per child and we made it that low so a lot of families - you know could come - a lot of fundraising before camp so we could take all the children in,” says Barry Washington of the Redeemed Christian Church. Redeemed Christian Church in Louisville’s west end is offering the camp -where kids can play on a new basketball court. This basketball court will also be used for teen street ball leagues in the evenings free of charge. Registration for the sailing camp continues Thursday evening until 7:00 p.m. and Friday evening from 5-7.
