LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Oxmoor Center is getting a multi-million dollar makeover effective immediately.
“We're going to remodel Center Court, we're going to bring new soft seating furniture and we're also going to bring back the play area in the Sears wing which has been a big item that a number of our customers have asked for,” Oxmoor Center General Manager Jacob Sappenfield said.
One important remodel involves expanding the facade of each store front to the ceiling of the second level, which means no more second floor.
"The main goal of this project is decommissioning certain areas so that you will be able to see. We are going to increase signage, increase the visibility so when you come into the center you can see where our retailers are and you can find them much easier,” Sappenfield said.
Pretty soon the mezzanine will be no more, but several retailers are relocating throughout the mall. Subway, Something 2 do, and Stride Rite are just some of the familiar names that are staying put.
“There are going to be some new tenants coming into the mix that we'll be talking about at a later time,” Sappenfield said.
And what about the food court?
“There won't be a centralized food court but we still have a number of restaurants and fast casual options of our customers,” Sappenfield said.
Management says project plans are in place so customers can continue shopping during the construction phase. It is expected to be complete by August.
