(WHAS11)  It’s designed to help people find good local restaurants, shops and businesses, but a popular website is being sued over the way it does business.

Some small businesses are suing the website YELP, saying they were pressured to advertise on the site in exchange for getting negative reviews removed.

YELP lets anyone post a review on the website.

Companies are complaining that reviews are manipulated, depending on which companies advertise and which ones do not.

YELP denies the claim and said the businesses which are suing don’t understand how the site works.
