LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – Kentucky's Cash for Appliances rebate program started at midnight Thursday, and the Sears store on Dixie Highway opened its doors before the sun came up for customers to take advantage of the program.
In additions to sale prices, the program could save consumers up to $400 more on certain appliances.
However, Kentucky only has a certain amount of money allotted for the rebates, so once the money is gone, the program ends.
Stores like Charlie Wilson's Dixie Appliance in downtown Louisville have already received tons of phone calls about the program, and employees said people have been coming in to pick out appliances they plan to buy Thursday.
The program is for Kentucky residents who wish to up-grade older, less efficient appliances like washing machines and refrigerators to new, Energy Star appliances.
For more information about the program go to KYApplianceRebates.com, or call 1-877-813-3669 to reserve funds.
You must be a Kentucky resident. After funds have been reserved, you have 14 days to complete an application.
Kentucky has $4.1 million available for eligible consumers but once the money is gone the program ends.
Paul Kinzer at Bonnycastle Appliance Bardstown Road said he is telling his customers to act fast.
