LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kentucky's gas prices are getting ready to go up again and it isn’t the price of oil that will cost motorists more money at the pump.
Starting on July 1, the state's gas tax will increase two cents per gallon.
This means that motorists will be paying nearly 30 cents in state taxes for each gallon of gas.
That is supposed to generate $57 million for the state road fund next year.
The gas tax increase is automatic and is tied to the average cost of wholesale gas, which has also been rising.
