LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The name KFC Eleven comes from Colonel Sanders' fried chicken recipe, the 11 herbs and spices. That's a secret KFC is keeping, but now they're giving Baxter Avenue customers even more options, without the big red bucket.
"We're featuring hand crafted food, we are featuring fresh preparation, and quality food cooked directly in front of consumers," Senior Concept Manager David Menis, said.
It's a "fast casual" restaurant offering sandwiches, flatbreads, some familiar sides, and the original recipe chicken, but there are no drumsticks here, no bones at all.
"What we do have is our delicious original recipe boneless chicken. We just launched that this past year and it's done phenomenally. We are excited to bring that to the market as well," Menis, said.
Entrees are priced from $4.50 to $7.50 and you may notice the Colonel is absent from the new joint, but Menis says Sanders' spirit was the driving force behind the new concept.
"He was also an entrepreneur and an innovator and that's exactly what we are doing here, is bringing innovation to the Highlands neighborhood," Menis, said.
The new sleek modern design and menu are the first of its kind in the nation and Yum! Brands hopes the concept will influence other KFC's.
"We would expect that some of the learnings we get from this restaurant, whether it's food or service, would make its way into the other 4500 restaurants around the country," Menis, said.
KFC Eleven opens August 5th. The grand opening celebration is August 11th.
